With SupportPay, you have the ability to track private expenses. Private expenses are expenses that may not be related to a child and may be directly related to a parent.
Private expenses are not shared with the other parent, and the amount owed is only allocated to the parent who chooses to track the item as private.
A parent may want to track private expenses to provide documentation on their current household expenses outside the scope of child support. For example, if a parent is seeking to modify a child support order and wishes to show the court documentation on their current household expenses, they can track these expenses as private expenses. This would provide information to a legal professional on the current financial obligations of the parent in order to justify a child support review or modification.
To add a private expense, follow the steps below:
1. Click on the Add Reimbursement / Support / Bill button at the top of the page.
2. Choose the type of expense you'd like to add. For this example, we'll choose Reimbursement.
3. Enter the reimbursement name and select the merchant and category, then click on Add Amounts And Dates.
4. Enter the amounts and dates for the expense. In this step, click on the Private button at the bottom, and then click on Review Reimbursement.
5. Take a moment to review the reimbursement you're creating, and once ready, click on Create Reimbursement.
Once added, you can view your private expenses by going to Transactions > Private Expenses.
